Kashmir University gears up to reconnect with former students

Srinagar, Jul 21: The University of Kashmir (KU) is all set to host the Mega Alumni meet on July 27 to reconnect with the former students from different walks of life.

This will be the first of its kind mega event in which the KU alumni who are settled at different positions in judiciary, civil administration or Police administration besides academic or research institutions.

The varsity had earlier started the registration process for the alumni interested to be part of the event.

"As of now, we around 1200 people have registered for the event. Besides those who have registered for the event we have alumni who are already working in the varsity and those who are in the Judiciary. They are also expected to join the alumni meet," Registrar KU, Prof. Naseer Iqbal told Greater Kashmir.

He said the idea behind holding this event was to make the alumni association vibrant and reconnect with all those who have been the students of the varsity.

"We already have an alumni association but we want to make that more active and vibrant so that varsity remains in touch with its alumni," Registrar KU said.

Besides a reconnect, the alumni meeting will also serve the purpose to get feedback from the graduated students regarding the changes that need to be made to make KU a leading institution in terms of academics and research.

As per the KU invitation, the alumni meet will be held at Convocation Complex of the Varsity and Chief Justice of India, Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai is expected to be the chief guest at the occasion.

Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Ministry of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Judges from Supreme Court of India- Justice Surya Kant and Justice Vikram Nath are also expected to attend the alumni meet.

J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Chief Justice High Court of J&K and Ladakh Justice Arun Palli and former Chief Justice High Court of J&K and Ladakh Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey are also expected to attend the alumni meet of KU on July 27.
