Kashmir cyclists complete 365 km journey in a single day

Srinagar, Aug 25: AR Bhat and Yasir Makhdoomi, members of the Jammu and Kashmir Mountain Biking Association (JKMBA), have set a new record by completing a gruelling 365 km cycling expedition in just 18 hours and 37 minutes.

The duo began their journey at 2:55 AM on August 24th from Sanat Nagar, Srinagar, and finished at Makhdoom Sahib. Their route encompassed multiple laps around Dal Lake, a ride to Ganderbal, a loop through Sumbal road back to Srinagar, and an extension to Qazigund before returning to the city. A Garmin Fenix 7 tracked and recorded the entire journey.

This achievement surpasses the previous JKMBA record of 355 km, set merely two weeks ago. Bhat, Chief General Manager at JAMKASH Vehicleades Kashmir Pvt Ltd, and Makhdoomi, an employee at J&K Bank's Islamia College Branch, are both senior JKMBA members.

"August's shorter days made this 365 km ride particularly challenging," said Bhat. "Our consistent training and Allah's grace made this possible." Makhdoomi attributed their success to recent intensive training, including a 300 km ride and swimming sessions.

JKMBA President Riyaz Wani and Secretary Asif Bhat praised the cyclists' dedication, highlighting the patience and perseverance required for such a feat.
