Jammu, Aug 8: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra will launch a hunger strike, as per already announced programme by the party to intensify its statehood movement, in Srinagar tomorrow.

JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma stated that all district presidents and district coordinators of PCC for Kashmir province will join Karra to observe hunger strike.

“Following it, JKPCC president will launch the party's similar hunger strike in Jammu on August 10, by joining all district presidents and district coordinators of the party for Jammu province,” Ravinder Sharma said.

Hunger strike, according to JKPCC chief spokesperson, will begin at Maharaja Hari Singh ji statue site at Tawi bridge from 10 am onwards.

“JKPCC president had already announced the phase wise schedule of intensification of the struggle for restoration of full statehood in a press conference at Jammu on July 28. Following that schedule, Karra will, himself, lead the hunger strike in both capital cities to further intensify the over eight months long movement of the party ' Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq', which has already gained momentum after the ‘Srinagar Chalo’, ‘Jammu Chalo’ and ‘Delhi Chalo’ call by the party on July 19, 20 and July 21, 22, 2025 respectively,” Sharma said.

He said that the party would review; draw the future strategy and course of action, on the issue after August 20.
