Kargil observes bandh against Pahalgam attack
Kargil, Apr 23: A complete bandh was observed across Kargil district of Ladakh on Wednesday in protest against the Pahalgam terror attack in which atleast 27 people were killed.
The bandh was observed on the call given by the President of Jamiat Ul Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil (AJUIAK) Sheikh Nazir Mehdi. The shops and business establishments remained closed . Sheikh Nazir Mehdi had called for a Kargil bandh in protest against the brutal attack on tourists in Pahalgam area in south Kashmir on Tuesday. In a message , President AJUIAK Sheikh Nazir Mehdi termed the incident very unfortunate and highly condemnable and against the humanity.
Lieutenant Governor Ladakh Brig Dr BD Mishra also condemned the attack in Pahalgam.
“ I strongly condemn the dastardly attack by terrorists on innocent civilian tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir. This cowardly violent act by the terrorists has shaken the conscience of the entire nation. In this hour of grief, my heart goes out to the bereaved families. The people and the Administration of UT Ladakh and the entire nation stand firmly in solidarity with our brethren who have lost their dear ones in today’s inhuman cruel attack by the terrorists,” the LG said.
The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil also strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. As a mark of respect and solidarity, LAHDC Kargil observed a two-minute silence and declared a half-day off to mourn the demise of innocent lives. The LAHDC Kargil expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and prays for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attack.
