‘Kapil Dev appreciates J&K tourism’s efforts’

Srinagar, Oct 13: Cricket legend and President of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), Kapil Dev, has appreciated the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism for its efforts to promote golf.

According to a press release, he was speaking ahead of the PGTI tournament at the Jammu Tawi Golf Course (JTGC). The tournament will be held from October 22 to 27. Kapil Dev praised the region for its commitment to expanding the reach of golf. He said, “I thank J&K to have taken this step forward and this is a door opener for everybody else. I promise that I will come to Jammu as I would like to see the game myself.” His appreciation comes as 126 national and international players prepare to compete in the prestigious tournament, further establishing Jammu as an emerging golf destination.

The press release added that under the leadership of Yasha Mudgal, Secretary of J&K Tourism, golf tourism in the region has seen a definite boost. “Her efforts have played a crucial role in promoting the sport and positioning Jammu as a growing destination for golf. This year marks the third consecutive time that JTGC will host the PGTI event, underscoring the course’s growing prominence. Set against Jammu’s scenic backdrop, the 18-hole course presents unique challenges for professional golfers, and the presence of Kapil Dev will bring additional visibility and attention to the event,” the press release said.

The press release added that Kapil Dev’s support for golf initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir reflects the region’s increasing influence on the Indian golf scene. “With J&K Tourism actively developing infrastructure and hosting top-tier events, the region is steadily positioning itself on the global golfing map. Kapil Dev’s recognition of these efforts not only highlights the achievements so far but also sets the stage for further growth in the sport,” he said.
