Baramulla, Nov 9: Residents of the Sangri–Kanlibagh area in Baramulla have urged the district administration and the Municipal Council Baramulla to take urgent steps to repair the damaged drain running through the locality.

Locals said that the main drain along the Kanlibagh–Sangri road has suffered extensive damage at several points, obstructing the flow of drainage water and posing hygiene concerns for the residents.

“The surface of the drain is completely damaged, especially from Iffat Mosque onwards. The authorities must step in before its condition worsens,” said Mushtaq Ahmad, a resident of Kanlibagh.

Ahmad said that the Municipal Council Baramulla had carried out repairs on the Kanlibagh–Sangri road around two years ago but left a portion of the drain unattended after completing the work up to Iffat Mosque. The neglected stretch, he said, has since deteriorated and is now on the verge of collapse.

“The unmaintained section needs immediate attention. If not repaired soon, it could collapse and cause serious inconvenience to residents,” he added.

Locals have appealed to the authorities to carry out restoration work at the earliest to prevent further damage and ensure smooth drainage in the area.
