Srinagar, Nov 21: The Bar Association Kangan has submitted a detailed representation to the Chief Justice (CJ) of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh wherein it requested that the incumbent Munsiff, Kangan Mufti Nahida may be retained at her present place of posting.

According to a statement by the lawyers’ body through its president, Suhail Ahmad Mir, the Association in its representation, copy of which was also submitted to the administrative judge for district Ganderbal Justice Rahul Bharti, said that since her posting at Kangan, Mufti Nahida exemplified the highest standards of judicial propriety. “Her unwavering commitment to fairness and legal discipline has earned her deep respect from the Bar and the litigants alike. The Association has particularly lauded her firm, impartial, and principled approach in adjudicating a wide array of sensitive and long-standing disputes,” the statement said. The statement added that under stewardship of Munsiff Kangan the Court has witnessed extraordinary improvement in its overall functioning.

The Lawyers’ body said by disposing of a substantial number of long-pending litigations that included the cases that remained unresolved for decades, the Munsiff Kangan has strengthened public faith in the justice delivery system. Her balanced handling of a highly contentious and sensitive matter further reinforced confidence in the judiciary and demonstrated her judicial maturity, it said.

“Kangan, being the largest Sub-Division in District Ganderbal, is characterized by complex, voluminous, and multifaceted litigation. The Association has emphasized that such a jurisdiction demands continuity and sustained leadership from a dedicated, scholarly, and hard-working judicial officer. In this regard, the Bar has highlighted Mufti Nahida’s academic distinction, including her recently completed Ph.D. in Law, as a testament to her intellectual depth and professional excellence”. The Bar has said that any premature transfer at this crucial juncture would not only stall the commendable momentum presently witnessed in the Court but also cause avoidable hardship to the litigant public and disrupt the steady progress achieved in the administration of justice in the region. With utmost respect and optimism, the Association hopes that the Hon’ble Chief Justice will graciously consider their request in the larger interest of justice, judicial continuity, and public confidence, the statement said.
