KAN celebrates National Startup Day
Srinagar, Jan 16: Kashmir Angel Network (KAN) celebrated National Startup Day at its corporate office located at Veracity House, Rajbagh. This annual event, observed on January 16, aims to recognise the growing startup ecosystem across the country and to encourage innovation across various sectors.
KAN marked the occasion by hosting a panel discussion under the banner of "KANversations: Unlocking Opportunities," focusing on "The Potential of Startups in Kashmir."
The event featured esteemed startup founders from companies such as Cred Integrated Agro Private Limited, Chew n Brew, Zerothware, Wildfloc Adventures Private Limited, Self Sawari, Pujkaak, Thinksite Services Private Limited, and Elite Institute of Placement and Training. The panel addressed the significance of National Startup Day and the importance of entrepreneurship in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
Shabir Handoo, Chairman of KAN, delivered the inaugural address, outlining KAN's mission and achievements. He emphasized, “KAN has taken the initiative to elevate the startups of the region to a global level. Our goal is to provide a platform for entrepreneurs where they can access funding, mentorship, and other essential resources.”
The discussion highlighted various opportunities for entrepreneurs in Kashmir, as well as the challenges they face in the region. The panelists stressed the need for increased investment in local startups and urged for more support from both government and private sectors to foster entrepreneurship.
The startups expressed appreciation towards KAN for offering a platform that connects entrepreneurs with mentors, investors, and industry experts. KAN provides a range of services, including capacity building, market access, and funding opportunities, and organizes events, workshops, and conferences to raise awareness about the startup ecosystem and facilitate networking and collaboration.
The panel discussion concluded with an interactive session featuring KAN-associated startups, who shared their entrepreneurial journeys and discussed the challenges encountered in the region.
