Rajouri, Oct 16: A wave of celebration was witnessed among jubilant people of Pir Panjal region as the area got its first Deputy Chief Minister in Jammu and Kashmir Government.

Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Nowshera assembly constituency, Surinder Choudhary of National Conference has been inducted in government as Deputy Chief  Minister.

The decision has been seen as a political milestone for the border region comprising of Rajouri and Poonch districts and called as Pir Panjal region.

In Nowshera, the home town of new Deputy CM, National Conference cadre and locals were seen dancing to the tunes of drums and celebrating the occasion.

" This is like a Diwali for us as not only Nowshera but entire Pir Panjal region got its first Deputy CM," said locals of area who were celebrating the occasion.

They said that Surinder is a down to earth man who remains with people all the days.

"We are highly thankful to NC leadership and especially Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah for picking Surinder Choudhary as Deputy CM," they further said.

In Rajouri town, NC and Congress cadre organised a joint event to celebrate formation of new Government of INDI Alliance.

"Finally, after a wait of 10 years Jammu and Kashmir is having a public elected Government," said Shafqat Mir, Provincial Secretary of National Conference.

Mir said that a public elected Government has no alternative and formation of new Government will end the high-headed bureaucratic setup in Jammu and Kashmir.

In Mendhar, the home town of new minister Javed Ahmed Rana, NC workers celebrated the occasion of inclusion of MLA Mendhar Javed Rana as Cabinet Minister.
