JUAIK Kargil accords warm welcome to LG Ladakh Kavinder Gupta
Kargil, Jul 27: The Jamait Ul Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil (JUAIK) Sunday extended a warm welcome to the newly appointed Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, at the historic Howza e Ilmiya Isna Asharia seminary in Kargil.
The LG was received by JUAIK President Sheikh Nazir Mehdi Mohammadi, who honoured him with a traditional Kargili shawl.
The reception was attended by prominent religious scholars, public representatives, and senior officials, including the Chairman of LAHDC Kargil, Dr Mohammad Jaffar Akhone, MP Haji Hanifa Jan, Executive Councillor Aga Syed Mujtaba, Chairman Haj Committee Ladakh Mohammad Ali Majaz, DC Kargil Rakesh Kumar, SP Shree Ram R, and other prominent dignitaries.
In his address, Sheikh Nazir congratulated the LG on his appointment and praised his early outreach to Kargil.
He highlighted JUAIK’s contributions in education, healthcare, disaster management, and environmental protection. He also thanked former LG Dr. B.D. Mishra for supporting the union’s plantation drive and expressed hope that the new LG would continue the cooperation.
Speaking on the occasion, LG Kavinder Gupta appreciated the warm welcome and praised the role of JUAIK and the Islamic School Kargil in social development.
He called for collective efforts from the administration, public, and religious institutions for inclusive growth.
The LG said that the Zojila Tunnel project is progressing steadily and is likely to be completed by April next year.
He assured that the administration will work closely with the people to deliver development at the grassroots and address their concerns effectively.
JUAIK’s political in-charge, Sajjad Kargili, also welcomed the LG and recalled the seminary’s historical and religious importance.
He lauded the ulema’s stand against violence during the 1990s and urged the LG to expedite pending issues like the civil airport project in Kargil and setting up a GAD sub-office for better governance access.
