Srinagar, Dec 30: A delegation of the Joint Traders Association (JTA), representing various City Centre markets, met the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to highlight long-pending civic, transport and regulatory issues affecting the commercial heart of Srinagar.

A statement said that led by JTA Chairman Farhan Kitab, the delegation raised concerns over persistent encroachment of footpaths, inadequate public washroom facilities, lack of evening public transport, unregulated auto-rickshaw stands, and the need for a regulated framework for the operation of e-rickshaws within the City Centre.

The traders also flagged serious safety concerns, particularly the absence of adequate street lighting along the Bund areas, including near Masjid Bilal and stretches of Residency Road Bund. They said poor illumination has made these areas unsafe for pedestrians, shoppers and visitors during evening and night hours, especially in peak business seasons.
