JTA decries limited hours for parking entry
Srinagar, Mar 1: The Joint Traders Association (JTA), representing shop owners across 14 markets in the city centre, has expressed dismay over the limited operating hours for entry to the multi-level parking area from the Press Enclave side.
According to JTA President, Farhan Kitab, the parking facility opens late in the morning and closes much earlier in the evening. “This causes problems for our customers in parking their vehicles conveniently when visiting our markets. As a result, we have seen a definite drop in footfall and sales,” said Kitab.
“On behalf of the hundreds of businesses represented by the JTA, I urge Commissioner SMC, who is also CEO Srinagar Smart City Ltd, to look into this matter urgently. Extending the parking entry hours will go a long way in supporting market vibrancy as well as the livelihoods of our traders and vendors.”
The Press Enclave entry provides access to the multi-level parking. Traders have pointed out that convenient parking access is crucial to attracting more shoppers during peak market hours.
