Joy and emotions fill the air as GD Goenka Baramulla kicks off Annual Sports Day

Baramulla, Oct 12: The moment was filled with joy and emotions as the primary class students of G D Goenka Baramulla started their parade (March Past) in the school premises to set the tone for the two-day Annual sports Day kick started by G D Goenka school on Saturday.

As the students started marching towards the stage and saluted the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) north Kashmir range Maqsood ul Zaman who was the chief guest at the occasion, the move was responded with the applause from the parents, glued to their seats watching their kids parading the ground.

This was followed by the lighting of the Sports Torch, by the students who made a round of the school premises with utmost energy and enthusiasm.

As the kids were performing during the event, voices were heard in the air with parents cheering for their kids. "Keep it up my champion. Mumma Loves you," a mother, watching his son performing on the stage, shouted out of emotions.

As the kids showcased their talent while delivering different performances on the stage and the school ground, the parents were captivated with the energy and the enthusiasm of their kids while being treated to an array of impressive performances.

From the start till the culmination of the event, the students held the audience's attention with a variety of activities.

From 100 meter sprint to Shot Put and from Javelin throw to Discus tThrow and Relay Race, the kids, dressed in their distinctive in-house uniforms enthralled the parents throughout the day. The parents were equally moved after witnessing the versatility and skills of their kids.

In some events, the teamwork and coordination by the young participants left a lasting impression on the audience.

The Martial Arts demonstration by the students including Boys and Girls was the highlight of the day as each athletic move by the kids was responded with enthusiastic applause from the parents.

For many parents, witnessing their children's performances was an emotional moment.

Balloon Race, Water Sponge Race, Beat and Eat besides Tug of War and cycling race were also held during the Annual Sports Day. These events not only displayed the energy of the young buds but also taught young kids about facing defeat in life.

"Victory is always joyous, but such events are really important in a child's life because these are the occasions where they learn how to behave after facing defeat in life," said Vice Principal Government Degree College Baramulla, Prof. Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo. He was the guest of honour at the occasion.

Other guests of honours present at the occasion were member JK Public Service Commission (PSC) Tariq Ahmad Zargar, Principal Birla Open Minds School Pampore Mehnaz Rehman and Muneer Wani.

Director GD Goenka Baramulla Raja Zubair and Principal Sartaj Ahmad were also present at the occasion.

The event concluded with the felicitation of top-performing students who were awarded medals and certificates.
