Joint training programme | Army, JKP collaboration indispensable for secure, prosperous J&K: Lt Gen Suchindra Kumar

Jammu, Apr 23: General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) Northern Command Lieutenant General M V Suchindra Kumar Tuesday described the “collaboration between the Indian army and the Jammu & Kashmir Police as indispensable in striving towards a secure and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.”

He stated this during his address at the White Knight Corps Battle School in Bhalra, where he also felicitated outstanding achievers amongst the trainee Probationer (Police) Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) undergoing the training since March 18, 2024.

In a separate engagement, Northern Army Commander, accompanied by the Commander of Fire & Fury Corps also visited ‘Forever in Operations’ Division and forward posts of formations along the Line of Control to review the operational preparedness.

“The Army Commander was briefed on the technological innovations during his interaction with the troops. He appreciated the professional excellence and exhorted all ranks to remain steadfast in their operational commitments,” Northern Command on ‘X’ posted.

Meanwhile, in his address during his visit to White Knight Corps Battle School at Bhalra, Lt Gen Suchindra Kumar emphasised the joint training programme between the Indian army and the Jammu & Kashmir Police and commended the collective efforts towards enhancing operational synergy and interoperability among the forces. He exhorted all ranks to remain physically fit as a hallmark of a professional responder to all security challenges.

“Acknowledging the participation of 136 female PSIs, he underscored the commitment towards inclusive training initiatives. The collaboration between the Indian army and the Jammu & Kashmir Police was emphasized as indispensable in striving towards a secure and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir,” PRO Defence Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said, while quoting Lt Gen Suchindra Kumar.

In a significant stride towards enhancing security and fostering peace in the region of Jammu and Kashmir, Indian army in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir Police had undertaken joint training activities aimed at increasing synergy, interoperability and understanding the strengths along with the ethos and culture of each other on March 18, 2024 at the White Knight Corps Battle School located in Bhalra.

The batch of trainees comprised 62 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) and 989 trainee PSIs. They included 19 female DSsP and 109 female PSIs.

The leadership of police and army had described the joint training initiative as an “enduring partnership between Northern Command and White Knight Corps with the Jammu & Kashmir Police” also reflecting their “shared long-term vision of a secure and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.”

On March 27, General Officer Commanding (GOC) White Knight (16) Corps Lt Gen Naveen Sachdeva too had stated that the initiative of J&K Police to get the newly inducted DySPs and PSIs trained in counter-insurgency or counter terrorist operations at Corps’ Battle School at Bhalra was “hallmark of synergy and increasing jointness between two organisations.”

He had also commended DGP R R Swain for his leadership and foresight in taking the initiative of joint training of police at this elite Battle School in Doda.

Lt Gen Sachdeva had also mentioned he was sanguine that the training would result in enhanced jointness between the two elite organisations through sharing and understanding each other’s strengths, ethos, culture, values and best practices.
