Srinagar, Aug 30: The Job Fair at Iqbal Institute of Technology & Management (IITM) on Saturday attracted over 2700 youth for job opportunities in 34 companies who had come with different job perspectives for the youth of Valley.

The Job Fair-2025 was organised by the Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) in collaboration with IITM Srinagar and Hamdard Learning & Welfare Society at IITM campus Hyderpora, here.

During the day-long job fair around 2769 candidates registered for the jobs with 34 companies. Out of this, 1606 candidates were interviewed and 404 candidates were shortlisted and selected as well.

Vice Chancellor Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST)-Kashmir Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai was the Chief Guest at the occasion.

Talking to media persons, VC SKUAST-K said organising such job fairs was appreciable as the skills of the youth are utilised in different private companies.

“It is heartening to see that IITM is producing skilled youth who are eligible for jobs in outside companies,” he said.

He said such job fairs are much needed in the Valley which provide an opportunity to the skilled youth to further hone their talent.

He urged the youth to prepare themselves for upcoming opportunities saying that education is the only means to come out of the quagmire of poverty. “Such initiatives provide a pathway for empowerment and growth,” he said.

Chairman Iqbal Memorial Trust Bemina Yousuf ul Umer was the guest of honour at the occasion.

In his address, he expressed gratitude to all partners and participating companies and said that IMT institutions’ are committed to support employability and skill development for Kashmiri youth.

Director, IITM Srinagar Prof. Abdul Gani in his welcome address appreciated the overwhelming response of youth to the job fair and highlighted the remarkable growth in IITM’s academic programs.

Head Employment Assistance Cell (EAC), AMP Shahid Haider in his address praised the massive participation of youth and said that Srinagar Job Fair once again set new benchmarks in creating meaningful opportunities for the youth.

Shaukat Mufti from Hamdard Learning and Welfare Society, in his address emphasized the role of social organisations in uplifting youth through employment oriented initiatives.
