JMC conducts demolition drive in Gandhinagar

Jammu, Jan 27: Jammu Municipal Corporation Saturday conducted an anti-encroachment drive in Gandhinagar markets, including refurbishing Apsara Road and removing extended structures.

JMC officials said that the drive was aimed at making roads and pavements free of encroachments to facilitate the movement of pedestrians.

In the drive undertaken, the JMC officials sealed goods and demolished extended structures of some big showrooms on and along Apsara Road.

However, the affected shopkeepers resented the JMC drive stating that when the Smart City project was implemented and these structures were being constructed in Gandhi Nagar, the officials did not raise any objection to what they demolished today.

“These unilateral actions harm commercial interests,” they rued.
