JKTF urges Govt to ensure adequate staff in schools

Srinagar, Feb 13: The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) on Tuesday held a meeting in district Kupwara to deliberate on the issues confronted by the students in the schools. The meeting was convened ahead of the reopening of the schools across Kashmir.

During the meeting convened in district Kupwara, JKTF UT president Mohammad Shafi Rather talked about various issues concerning students in schools. These included distribution of textbooks, uniforms and grants for mid-day meals.

“During the previous years, the schools did not receive the textbooks on time while the school uniforms also got delayed as well. But this year we are hopeful that the department will address these issues on time,” Rather said.

He however hailed the government efforts for its landmark decision to implement the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 which has broadened the horizons of education for the children.

Vice President JKTF Munir Ahmad Khan, Chief spokesperson Javid Ahmad Bhat, Provincial president Mohammad Akbar Dar, Chief Election Commissioner JKTF Farooq Ahmad Wani, General secretary Fayaz Ahmad, District President Kupwara Sahil Bashir, Zonal President (ZP) Zone Mawer Khursheed Ahmad Bhat and other ZPs of district Kupwara and district executive members and zonal executive members of Kupwara attended the meeting.

JKTF president said primary and middle schools are the foundation of the education sector but they always have a deficiency of teachers as the department deputes the staff from these schools to high and higher secondary schools.

“We urge the department to ensure that primary and middle schools are provided adequate staff to ensure functioning of the smooth academic session in schools,” he said.
