JKTF holds seminar on drug abuse in Sopore
Sopore, Dec 31: The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) on Tuesday organised a one-day seminar on drug abuse at Kashmiri Delights, Model Town Sopore.
The seminar was aimed at raising awareness and promoting healthier lifestyle choices among the youth.
The seminar featured insightful discussions and presentations focused on the challenges of drug abuse in the region, emphasising the importance of community involvement in addressing this pressing issue.
The participation of local leaders and educators underscores a collective commitment to fostering a safer, drug-free environment for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
During the event, speakers expressed that together, “we can pave the way for a stronger, healthier community.”
Chief guest Showkat Ahmad Bhat, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum, highlighted the collective responsibility of citizens in eradicating drug abuse. He commended the District Administration’s ongoing efforts to combat this societal menace, emphasising the critical role of public participation in sustaining these initiatives.
Station House Officer Syed Ayaz Geelani discussed the increasing issue of drug abuse and appealed to everyone to work collectively to combat it, in order to safeguard the future of our children who are being drawn into this crisis. He stated that while programmes are being conducted to address drug abuse, it is crucial to pay close attention to “our children, giving them our full support.” He emphasised that, alongside being a parent, teachers play a vital role in guiding and supporting children.
Zonal Education Officer Mohammad Akbar Wani stressed the critical need for preventive measures to combat the growing menace of drug abuse among youth, discussing various strategies to address this urgent issue.
