JKTA holds 21st AGM
Srinagar, Oct 18: The Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Alliance (JKTA) on Saturday convened its 21st Annual General Meeting at Hotel New Park, drawing leading hoteliers, tour operators, and stakeholders from across the region.
The AGM marked a fresh chapter for the Alliance, with elections for the 2025–2027 term. Hilal Ahmad Dar was elected Chairman, Shamim Ahmed Shah as Vice Chairman, Waseem Siah as Honorary Secretary General, Sameer Ahmed as Joint Secretary General, and Mohammad Maqbool Pakhtoon as Honorary Treasurer. The Executive Committee also welcomed Zahoor Qari, Mir Anwar, Showkat Pakhtoon, Mohammad Akram Siah, Sameer Baktoo, and Rajinder Singh.
Members engaged in robust discussions on post-pandemic challenges, sustainable tourism growth, and reviving the sector, expressing optimism about JKTA’s role in promoting responsible and inclusive tourism.
A highlight of the event was the felicitation of industry stalwarts Zahoor Ahmad Tramboo of Shahenshah Hotel and Sardar Narinder Singh of Pahalgam Hotel, who received Lifetime Achievement Awards for their decades-long contributions to Jammu and Kashmir’s hospitality sector.
Newly elected Chairman Hilal Ahmad Dar said, “Tourism is not just an industry — it is our shared heritage and identity. We aim to collectively create a sustainable and globally competitive tourism future for Jammu and Kashmir.”
