JKSET, LASET 2024-25 : JU asks applicants to reach exam cities a day early
Jammu, Sep 6: The Member Secretary of the State Eligibility Test (SET) at the University of Jammu has asked the applicants appearing in the State Eligibility Test for the UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh (SET/LASET) 2024-25 to reach examination cities one day in advance to avoid any inconvenience.
An advisory issued by the office of SET, University of Jammu, stated that the candidates unable to reach the allotted examination city due to the blockade of roads will be allowed to appear at the nearest examination city or centre; however, only with prior approval from the JKSET Agency.
“The applicants who are appearing in the JKSET/LASET (2024-25) examination scheduled to be held on September 7, 2025 (Sunday), are advised to reach their respective examination cities one day in advance to avoid any inconvenience,” the advisory read.
“However, if a candidate is unable to reach the allotted examination city due to the blockade of the road, he or she will be allowed to appear at the nearest examination city or centre only with prior approval from the JKSET Agency. In such a case, candidates are required to mail their request to the email: jujksetcell@jammuuniversity.ac.in,” the SET member secretary said in the advisory.
Notably, the candidates from Chenab Valley, comprising the Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts of the Jammu division, and their families, while sharing their concern over the blockade of roads following the flood-like situation triggering landslides, had sought the postponement of the exam by a week till the restoration of traffic on NH 44 or a concession for candidates to appear in centres in their respective districts.
In one of such mails received by Greater Kashmir, a netizen wrote, “It is impossible for students of Chenab Valley in Jammu division to reach the exam centres in Jammu, as everyone is familiar with the prevailing flood situation in Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar. NH-44 is closed, and authorities have decided to go ahead with the given date of the exam. (They should...) either make centres in concerned districts if it is so necessary to take the exam or postpone the exam by a week till the restoration of traffic on NH-44.”
