JKSA thanks Himachal CM for helping to bring back bodies of workers killed in landslide
Srinagar, Sep 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Thursday expressed its gratitude to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, and officials at the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) for their swift and compassionate intervention in ensuring the dignified recovery and repatriation of Kashmiri workers who lost their lives in the tragic Kullu landslide, said a press release.
National Convenor of Association, Nasir Khuehami, said that soon after the Association raised concerns regarding the landslide, in which seven Kashmiri workers were buried and killed, and later about the undignified transport of their bodies in load carriers, the Chief Minister immediately intervened.
Khuehami added that “the prompt response of J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has always been reassuring in such times of grief. His immediate coordination with the Himachal authorities and swift directions for arranging transportation in Kashmir reflect his sensitivity and concern for the affected families. This timely intervention ensured that the process was smooth and dignified from start to finish.” The Association also acknowledged the tireless efforts of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), other rescue teams, and central and state agencies who worked relentlessly on a war footing until the successful recovery of all mortal remains.
