Srinagar, Jan 25: Farooq Ahmad Mir and Lalit Kumar Mangotra from Jammu and Kashmir have been awarded the Padma Shri for their exemplary work in the fields of Art and Literature and Education, respectively.

This announcement was made as part of the conferment of 139 Padma Awards for the year 2025, which includes a wide array of distinguished personalities across various fields.

The Padma Awards, bestowed by the President of India, are among the highest civilian honors in the country, celebrating individuals for their exceptional and distinguished service. This year’s list features 7 Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awards. Among the awardees, 23 are women, and the list also includes 10 individuals from the Foreign/NRI/PIO/OCI categories and 13 posthumous awardees.

Farooq Ahmad Mir has been recognized for his significant contributions to Art, utilizing his talents to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir.

On the other hand, Lalit Kumar Mangotra has been conferred this honor for his impactful work in Education.
