Srinagar, Oct 3: The J&K Power Employees Coordination Committee (JKPECC) held a press conference in Srinagar on Thursday, demanding the resolution of pending issues.

In a press conference attended by various employees from different wings of the Power Development Department (PDD), the employees stated that the HR policies of the corporation need to be reviewed.

Naseer Ahmad Bhat, president of the JKPECC, said that employees have been facing uncertainty for many months and their demands have not been addressed.

“Many employees working in the field have died due to electrocution while discharging their duties. However, the government has never bothered to give them the respect they deserve. Our employees are lighting up homes for people while risking their lives,” he said.

“Despite better performance and making the corporation profitable, our genuine demands are not addressed. We are not receiving any appreciation for the work we do. As a result, our files are gathering dust at the secretariat level, which is unfortunate,” Bhat added.

The JKPECC mentioned that despite working in harsh conditions and improving billing efficiency, they have never been recognized for their efforts.

“Whether it concerns our basic HR policies, promotions, or incentives, none of these matters are being considered. Thousands of employees who work on the ground level are suffering despite giving their all to the corporation,” he said.
