Jammu, Sep 09: Jammu & Kashmir Milk Producers’ Cooperative Limited (JKMPCL) held its 20th Annual General Body Meeting, chaired by AK Angurana. The meeting, which took place today saw the participation of key officials such as Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of GCMMF Ltd. (Amul), and Dhiraj Chaudhary, MD of Mehsana Union GCMMF. More than 500 chairpersons and members from Village Dairy Cooperative Societies across Jammu and Kashmir were also in attendance.

He emphasised the cooperative’s role in empowering thousands of milk producers, ensuring a steady supply of quality milk and milk products, and supporting the livelihoods of dairy farmers. Angurana attributed JKMPCL’s success to the unwavering support of farmer-members, the visionary leadership of GCMMF (Amul), and the dedication of its employees.

He expressed pride in the cooperative’s collective achievements, which include consistent growth in milk procurement, processing capacity, and market presence. For the first time, JKMPCL crossed the ₹339 crore mark in turnover, achieving a 25% growth in sales over the last financial year.

Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of GCMMF, expressed his satisfaction with JKMPCL’s progress since its inception. He noted that the organisation now collects over 2.5 lakh litres of milk per day and offers remunerative prices averaging Rs 43 per liter to milk producers.

Mehta praised JKMPCL for becoming a model of dairy development in Jammu & Kashmir, following the cooperative model established by Amul. He highlighted that JKMPCL pays the highest farmgate price to farmers at the national level, thanks to the cooperation of associated milk-producing farmers.

Looking ahead, Mehta announced plans to expand JKMPCL’s membership base, enhance input services, and diversify the product portfolio. These initiatives aim to provide more remunerative prices and additional benefits to farmers, particularly those in remote villages of J&K. The organisation is also focused on achieving a ₹1,000 crore turnover in the near future, which will require the continued collective effort of all stakeholders.

Dhiraj Chaudhary, MD of Mehsana Union, also addressed the gathering, encouraging milk producers to take advantage of various government schemes available to them. He emphasized the importance of these schemes in enhancing the productivity and profitability of dairy farming for the benefit of milk producers in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Chief Executive Officer of JKMPCL expressed his gratitude to all those who have contributed to the cooperative’s success, acknowledging the commitment of milk producers in making JKMPCL a viable organization for dairy development in the Union Territory. He noted that JKMPCL’s progress has been driven by the sincere interest of the milk producers of Jammu and Kashmir and their dedication to the cooperative model.

The Annual General Body Meeting underscored JKMPCL’s focus on growth, innovation, and farmer welfare, setting the stage for continued progress and development in Jammu and Kashmir’s dairy sector.
