JKHARA hails Kashmir’s resilient spirit of hospitality
Srinagar, Dec 28: As heavy snowfall blankets the Valley, Kashmir's hospitality shines through with locals offering shelter and warmth to stranded tourists, earning praise from the region's hospitality sector leadership.
"Kashmir's long-standing tradition of hospitality remains vibrant even in these challenging conditions," says Babar Chowdhary, President of Jammu Kashmir Hotel And Restaurant Association (JKHARA). "Locals have opened their homes and masjids, providing shelter, food, and warmth to those in need."
Social media platforms are awash with images and videos showing residents and masjid committees extending help to tourists caught in the severe weather. "These extraordinary gestures reflect the true spirit of Kashmir," Chowdhary notes. "Our commitment to helping strangers in need remains unwavering, regardless of circumstances."
While commending the public's response, Chowdhary urged the administration to expedite snow clearance on critical routes, particularly those connecting hotels, hospitals, and essential services. He emphasised the urgent need to restore power, water, and basic amenities for both residents and visitors.
"The people of Kashmir have once again proven that our tradition of warm hospitality transcends all challenges," Chowdhary said, expressing gratitude to local residents for their generosity during the ongoing winter crisis.
