JKEEGA to hold protest on June 18, slams Govt for delayed regularisation
Srinagar, Jun 10: The Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) has rescheduled its proposed one-day protest across Jammu and Srinagar to June 18, citing the observance of Guru Hargobind Ji’s birth anniversary on the earlier announced date of June 12.
A statement said that the decision was taken during a Guidance Council meeting of the association held on May 24 chaired by Er Pirzada Hidayatullah, President JKEEGA, in Bemina and Er Sachin Tickoo, General Secretary JKEEGA, in Gladini.
The association expressed serious concern over the continued delay in the regularisation of engineers in the Power Development Department (PDD). Although the Establishment Cum Selection Committee convened a crucial meeting on the matter on January 20, JKEEGA noted that even after four months, the Minutes of Meeting (MoM) have not been released, raising apprehensions about the government’s intent,
JKEEGA President Er Pirzada Hidayatullah said, *“It is highly unfortunate that despite the passage of several months, the government has failed to issue the MoM of the regularisation meeting. This delay only deepens the frustration among power engineers and raises doubts about the sincerity of the process.”*
He added that the engineers had initially planned to hold a mass protest on June 12, but out of respect for the religious sentiments associated with Guru Hargobind Ji’s birth anniversary, the date was deferred. “The protest will now be held across Jammu and Kashmir on June 18, and we urge the government to take immediate steps to address the issue before then,” he said.
JKEEGA reiterated its demand for timely regularisation, calling it essential to ensure morale, service security, and efficient functioning of the PDD.
