Srinagar, Mar 9: The Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineers' Guild Association (JKEEGA) has welcomed the recently announced budget for the Union Territory's power sector, highlighting several groundbreaking initiatives aimed at transforming electrical infrastructure and service delivery across the region.

In a statement issued today, JKEEGA President Er Pirzada Hidayatullah praised the budget's unprecedented focus on capacity building and staff safety, calling the enhanced insurance coverage for field workers "the need of the hour."

"For the first time, we're seeing concrete measures to protect our frontline workers who face significant risks during maintenance operations," said Hidayatullah. "The enhanced insurance coverage will provide immediate financial relief to families affected by accidents, addressing a critical concern within our workforce."

The budget introduces the prestigious Chief Minister's Awards to recognize outstanding contributions by field personnel in reducing Aggregate Technical and Commercial (ATC) losses and conducting energy audits.

Perhaps most significantly, the establishment of a dedicated Power Training Institute represents what JKEEGA describes as "a game changer" for the sector. The institute will provide continuous skill development and professional growth opportunities for engineers and technicians working in the rapidly evolving field of power distribution and management.
