JKEDI Boot Camp campaign reaches GCET Jammu, GDC Shopian

Shopian/Jammu, Aug 25: The J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) on Monday continued its Boot Camp Campaign under the J&K Startup Idea Challenge, reaching the Govt College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) Jammu and Imtiyaz Memorial Govt Degree College (GDC) Shopian, where six innovative startup ideas were shortlisted.

The campaign, aimed at fostering entrepreneurial spirit and encouraging startup ideation among students, has so far completed nine boot camps out of a planned 46 across J&K.

At GCET Jammu, the session was conducted by a three-member JKEDI team from the CIIBM vertical, attracting 105 students. Seven participants pitched their ideas before a panel of experts, with two selected for the next round.

At GDC Shopian, the programme drew 275 students and aspiring entrepreneurs. Out of five ideas presented before a panel comprising JKEDI officers, faculty experts, and the Lead District Manager of J&K Bank, four were shortlisted. Students and faculty members welcomed the initiative, seeking more such programmes for mentorship and guidance.

Meanwhile, a similar programme was also held at GDC Bijbehara, Anantnag, with over 150 participants.

The shortlisted participants will undergo intensive mentoring and pitch training at JKEDI campuses in Pampore and Bari Brahmana before competing in the Grand Finale, where the best 20 ideas will be presented before industry experts, investors, and policymakers. Winners will receive prizes, incentives, and incubation support at JKEDI and partner incubators across J&K.

Supported by partners including J&K Bank, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, P-Mark, Jamkash Vehicleades, and Rahim Greens, the campaign will culminate in two major workshops and two intensive boot camps at JKEDI’s main campuses.
