JKCSF urges GOI to evacuate stranded J&K residents from Nepal

Srinagar, Sep 11: Amid the deteriorating situation in Nepal, the Jammu & Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF) has expressed deep concern for the safety and well-being of Indian citizens—particularly students, businesspersons, and other stakeholders from Jammu & Kashmir—who are currently stranded there. The forum has urged the Government of India to take urgent action.

In a statement, JKCSF Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani appealed to the Government of India and the Ministry of External Affairs to take immediate and concrete measures for the safe evacuation of all Indian nationals, with special priority for those from Jammu & Kashmir, given the vulnerability and anxiety being faced by their families.

Wani emphasized that swift, transparent, and effective rescue measures are urgently needed. He appealed to authorities to establish helplines, coordination centers, and facilitation desks at airports and border crossings to ensure smooth evacuation.

The JKCSF stands in solidarity with affected families and reiterates that safeguarding the lives of students and other stakeholders from Jammu & Kashmir is a collective responsibility. Wani also urged civil society groups, humanitarian agencies, and community leaders to extend all possible support until safe return is ensured.

"JKCSF once again appeals to the Government of India to prioritize evacuation efforts without delay" Wani said.
