JKCSF expresses concern on use of national emblem at Dargah Hazratbal Shrine

Srinagar, Sept 07: Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF) Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani today expressed serious concern over the reported use of the National emblem at the revered Hazratbal Shrine in a manner that may not be in line with law and religious sentiment.

Wani said that Hazratbal Shrine, where the holy relic of Prophet Mohammad (SAW) is preserved, holds the highest place of reverence in the hearts of Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir and across the globe. “The faith of Muslims is strictly based on the oneness of Almighty Allah, and any act or practice that appears contrary to this fundamental belief naturally causes deep unease and hurt,” he observed.

Wani underlined that the National emblem is a matter of national pride and dignity for all citizens, and therefore its sanctity must be preserved. “Any improper use, whether due to oversight or otherwise, not only risks hurting sentiments but also diminishes the respect due to such an important symbol. Respect for the emblem is best shown when it is displayed only in ways that preserve its dignity,” he said.

JKCSF urged the authorities to initiate a fair probe to ascertain facts, ensure accountability, and take preventive measures so that such incidents are not repeated in the future. The forum expressed hope that sensitivity towards both national symbols and religious sentiments will always be upheld.
