Srinagar, Nov 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF) has urged the government to announce the winter vacation for schools upto 10th standard , especially for lower classes on a priority basis amid immense cold and fog in Valley.

In a statement Chairman JKCSF Abdul Qayoom Wani said that JKCSF has been receiving representations from parents and even schools about the odd weather conditions and the shivering of children in cemented class rooms.

"For school going kids, it is extremely difficult to get up early and get ready for school during this weather. Our schools are not state of art schools to cope up with the chilling cold. The concrete class rooms make it more difficult to bear the odd weather conditions that is vulnerable to affect the health of the children in such conditions,”he said.

The society has endorsed the demand of PSAJK to adjust the academic calender of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with weather conditions and thus to change the annual exam session back from March to November.
