Srinagar, Nov 22: Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF) Abdul Qayoom Wani today voiced serious concern over the noticeable decline in the number of Hajj applicants for 2025.

In a statement, he said this disheartening trend is a direct result of skyrocketing airfare costs and the government's failure to release long-pending dues to employees and pensioners.

The JKCSF highlights that performing Hajj is a fundamental religious duty for Muslims who are financially and physically able. However, the unaffordable airfare and the non-payment of gratuity, GP Fund, leave salary benefits, pensionery benefits and non-payment of bills to contractors are creating insurmountable obstacles for many prospective pilgrims.
