JKCA imposes lifetime trial ban on 2 cricketers over age fraud

Srinagar, May 1: In a stern move to uphold integrity in cricket trials, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has imposed a lifetime ban on two individuals from trials for manipulating their date of birth documents.

According to a notification issued on Thursday, one individual has been banned for forging his date of birth on the submitted birth certificate, while the other one faces the same penalty for submitting two separate documents with different dates of birth.

The individuals were banned from participating in any age group trials conducted by JKCA with immediate effect.

Insiders in the JKCA said the decision was taken to ensure fairness and transparency in its selection process, stating they have a zero-tolerance policy toward document tampering and age fraud.

“These actions violate the basic principles of sportsmanship and fairness. Such conduct will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” a JKCA functionary said.

He said the ban comes at a time when JKCA has intensified efforts to streamline its age-group selection mechanism and deter malpractice in junior cricket.
