JKCA announces 8 national-level cricket matches for 2025–26
Srinagar, Oct 9: The Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) Thursday said that it will host eight national-level matches during the 2025–26 season, including three Ranji Trophy, three Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy, and two Cooch Behar Trophy fixtures.
As per the JKCA officials who spoke to Greater Kashmir, the season opens on October 15 with a Ranji Trophy clash against Mumbai at the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium, Srinagar.
The Ranji Trophy fixtures will feature top domestic teams and will include matches against Mumbai and Rajasthan, both to be played at the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium, Srinagar.
JKCA officials said that preparations were underway and on the verge of completion to host the season-opening game of the Ranji Trophy.
“Preparations are underway to host back-to-back games at SK Stadium in Srinagar. The first game of the Ranji Trophy is scheduled on 15 October, where J&K will play against domestic champions Mumbai,” a JKCA official said.
He added that spectators would be allowed free entry to watch their favourite cricket stars playing at SK Stadium, and for the entry inside the stadium, modalities were being finalised.
As per the insiders at JKCA, at the inaugural match of the Ranji Trophy 2025–26 cricket season at SK Stadium, the BCCI president, including top BCCI officials, is expected to be present.
The JKCA official added that the Col CK Nayudu Trophy matches will be held at the Hostel Ground, Jammu, while the Cooch Behar Trophy matches are scheduled at the Jammu University Cricket Ground.
Brig Anil Gupta (Retd) in a statement stated that the JKCA warmly welcomes cricket enthusiasts and supporters to witness their favourite players in action.
“Several national and international players are expected to feature in matches across Srinagar and Jammu during the season, offering fans a chance to enjoy top-quality cricket at their home venues,” he said.
The statement added that spectators are advised that carrying bottles or tiffins inside the venue will not be permitted for security and safety reasons.
Brig Gupta in the statement has appealed to all attendees to maintain decorum and dignity while cheering.
He added, “Cheer the teams and your favourite players wholeheartedly, but refrain from hooting or any kind of sloganeering. Our guest teams too deserve applause for their good performances.”
Brig Gupta added, "As informed earlier, only those media persons having JKCA-issued accreditation cards will be allowed inside the venue."
The statement added that the JKCA looks forward to enthusiastic public participation and disciplined conduct to ensure a successful and memorable cricketing season for all.
