JKCA allows empanelled umpires, scorers to officiate local matches, sets conditions

Srinagar, Aug 1: The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has issued a directive allowing its empanelled umpires and scorers to officiate in local league matches but with clear conditions to ensure discipline, transparency, and priority for official assignments.

According to an official notice issued by the JKCA, while umpires and scorers can take part in local tournaments to gain valuable on-ground experience, they must obtain prior approval from the Association before accepting any engagement.

The umpires and scorers have been asked to submit a set of details, which include the name of the tournament, details of the organisers, type of pitch (mat or turf), and dates of engagement to the Association before confirming their availability to any local tournament.

The JKCA has also stressed that all empanelled officials must give first priority to assignments allotted directly by the Association.

Additionally, the cricket body has underlined the need for maintaining integrity during matches. If any umpire or scorer becomes aware of malpractice or misconduct during any match, they are duty-bound to report the matter immediately to the Association.

Officials privy to the development told Greater Kashmir that this step was being seen as part of JKCA’s broader efforts to professionalise cricket operations in J&K and ensure that officials uphold the highest standards of conduct and commitment, both in official and local league fixtures.
