Talking to Greater Kashmir, Financial Commissioner School Education Department (SED) Shantmanu, who also holds the charge of Chairman JKBOSE said he has asked the concerned officers to conduct the Bi-Annual exam in June-July so that the students who qualify the exam can secure admission in Colleges. “The move will save one academic year of students who will qualify the Bi-annual exams. Since I am looking after HED, we can ask the colleges to extend the dates for admissions so that students can be enrolled for admissions. It will also help the colleges to increase their enrollment,” Shantmanu said.

Shantmanu, meanwhile, appreciated the team of officers and employees of JKBOSE who worked hard and declared the result of two classes in a single day in a time bound manner. “The deadline was fixed for April 30 and result of both the classes was declared smoothly. People working with NIC also did a wonderful job. There were no complaints of website crash,” he said. Financial Commissioner SED further said that the department is presently working on consolidation of schools as a huge number of schools have been opened during the past years. “As such there is no proposal for up gradation of schools,” he said.

He further said that the department is focused on holding Departmental Promotion Committees (DPC) meeting and a three month target has been set to complete promotions at all levels. When asked why schools have dearth of staff despite availability of huge manpower (teachers) with the department, Shantmanu said majority of the teachers were recruited under SSA and ReT schemes for rural areas. “I accept there is no rationalisation in schools but we are working to streamline it,” he said.
