Srinagar, Feb 14: The fate of 22 class 10th students of Islamic Global School in Srinagar hangs in balance as the authorities at JK Board of School Education (BOSE) have denied exam registration forms to the students despite government directions. As per the official documents, Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) in December, 2024 issued orders to tag the students of class 9th and 10th enrolled in The Islamic Global School Padshahibagh Srinagar, with the nearby government school for the current 2024-25 academic session in order to save the academic career of the students.

Following this, office of the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Srinagar, in an official communication to Secretary JKBOSE conveyed that the 22 class 10th students of The Islamic Global School Padshahibagh, Srinagar have been tagged with Boys Higher Secondary School Natipora for the current session.

As per the communication the decision has been taken "in compliance to the directions received from DSEK." "In view of the above, as a special case and to save the academic career of the students it is requested that the 22 students  be registered with JKBOSE and their examination forms for class 10th be accepted through BHSS Natipora, on priority," the official communication reads. Also, the Principal BHSS Natipora Srinagar in an official communication also informed the JKBOSE Chairman that the students of The Islamic Global School Padshahibagh Srinagar were tagged with their institute and requested the Board authorities them to "consider the case of the students and facilitate the registration renewal and examination form."

However, despite the clear instructions from the DSEK and the information conveyed from the CEO office Srinagar, the JKBOSE has not allowed the students to appear in the class 10th annual Board exams scheduled from February 17 of this year.

"After DSEK issued orders to tag the students with government school, we followed our case in JKBOSE Bemina office but till date we were dodged for one or the other reason," a school official said.

He said as the exam dates approached, the JKBOSE officials said the file was to be approved by the Chairman.

"We visited the office a number of times but the Chairman was never available in the Srinagar office," the school official said. The school official with each passing day JKBOSE did not show any interest to resolve the issue following which they shared the issue with the parents. "The exam is scheduled from February 17 of this year but our students are without roll number slip which has created anxiety among the students and perturbed their parents as well," the school official said. The schools and parents expressed surprise over the "indifferent attitude" of the JKBOSE despite clear directions from the DSEK. On Thursday the parents staged a protest in the premises of JKBOSE office at Bemina. Amid this, the school management has approached the Judiciary for relief.

"We have filed a case in court against JKBOSE," the school official said. Meanwhile, an official in JKBOSE said that the issue reached the CM office and students will be provided some relief.
