JKAACL’s Punjabi writers’ seminar concludes in Jammu

Jammu, Feb 9: Two-day Punjabi writers’ seminar organised by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) concluded on Friday at K L Saigal auditorium of the Academy.

The topic of the seminar was ‘Samkali Punjabi Sahit- Jammu Kashmir, 2019- 2023.’ Various aspects related to literary activities in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, during this period, were intensely discussed and shared by the group of a large number of intellectuals, writers, poets, faculty students and scholars of Jammu University, other colleges, and lovers of Punjabi language.

“Three academic sessions and a session were conducted by the Academy under the guidance of Bharat Singh, secretary, JKAACL on the concluding day of the seminar,” stated a press statement.

As per the press statement, during the first academic session of the second day of the seminar, four research papers were presented by Prabhjot Kour on ‘Jammu Kashmir Da Punjabi Natak- Stitthi Ate Sambavnaavaan’; by Jang S Verman on ‘Jammu Kashmir Di Punjabi Patarkaarta: Itihaas Te Paripekh- 2019- 2023’; by Ratan Singh Kanwal on ‘Ajokey Dour Vich Punjabi Boli Te Bhaasha’ and by Dr Sukhwinder Singh on ‘Jammu Kashmir Da Punjabi novel Vartmaan Stitthi.’

Prof (Dr) Baljit Kour, University of Jammu; Prof Surinder Singh Seerat, a senior Punjabi writer and Popinder Singh Paras, Editor Sheeraza Punjabi, JKAACL were present in the presidium during this session.

They discussed the content and presentation of research papers during the session.

Poetry recitation was conducted during the second session of the day where Ajit Singh Mastana; Baljit Singh Raina; Joginder Singh Pandhi; Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik; Dr Monojit; Harjit Singh Uppal; Suraj Singh; Suraj Rattan; Surinder Singh Seerat; Balkar Singh; Bhupinder Singh Raina; Bhupinder Singh Bhargav; Rajkumar; Baldev Singh Panchi; Harpal Singh Pali; Swami Antar Neerav; Balwinder Singh; Bahan Bharti; Surinder Singh Sodhi; Pritam Singh Anjan presented their poetic creations in various genres of Punjabi poetry on different issues of life.

Senior Punjabi writer and former president, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik; president Punjabi Sahitik Sabha, R S Pura Harjit Singh Uppal and senior writer Surinder Singh Sodhi shared the presidium and expressed their views on the second session of the seminar.

During the last session of the seminar on the second day of the seminar conducted by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, a cultural programme was presented in which the groups like Thoru Ram Premi & Party; Harman Cultural & Educational Society (Giddha); Jaswinder Singh & Party (Bhangra); Dilsher Singh and Party and Chaman Matoo and Party presented various cultural items projecting Punjabi culture.

The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Popinder Singh Paras and T S Premee.

Formal vote of thanks was presented by Popinder Singh, Editor Sheeraza Punjabi, JKAACL.
