Srinagar, Oct 28: The J&K Yateem Foundation (JKYF) held its annual volunteers meet at Tagore Hall in Srinagar, which was attended by over 200 volunteers from various regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

Representatives from different districts, program executives, members, philanthropists, and well-wishers were also present at the gathering.

The event commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Baitul Hilal scholar Sahil Majeed Kumar, followed by a soulful Na'at presented by Farooq Ahmed, a Srinagar-based volunteer of JKYF.

In his keynote address, Mehmood ur Rashid, a writer, thinker, and columnist, called upon the volunteer functionaries of JKYF to focus on conducting an independent audit of all its programmes. He emphasised that such a step would help transform the organization into a more vibrant and impactful institution. Quoting renowned scholar Ahmad Javaid, he stressed that those receiving assistance should not feel indebted to the organization in any manner.

Senior journalist Nazim Nazir highlighted the importance of education, career progression, skill development, and the rehabilitation of widows and the destitute. He expressed that empowering these economically weaker sections would pave the way for their financial independence.

Renowned Islamic scholar Mufti Muhammad Sultan, in his speech, emphasized the significance of humility in social service, citing references from the Holy Quran and Hadith. He reiterated that serving humanity remains a cornerstone of Islamic teachings.

Prof. (Dr.) Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai, in his presidential address, lauded the volunteers for their tireless efforts and dedicated services to society. Quoting the poetry of Dr. Sir Mohammad Iqbal, Prof. Mushtaq underscored the vital role of social service in strengthening the community.
