J&K Wushu players shine at 38th National Games, three enter finals

Srinagar, Jan 31: In a stellar performance at the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand, three Wushu athletes from Jammu & Kashmir—Surya Bhanu Partap Singh, Mohd Kamraan, and Ayeera Chisti—have stormed into the finals, raising hopes for gold medals.

As per a press release issued, so far, J&K has secured three silver and four bronze medals in the competition.

The J&K Wushu contingent has showcased remarkable consistency, earning praise from sports officials and associations. As the finalists gear up for their decisive bouts, the sporting fraternity remains optimistic about a golden finish for J&K.

The release states that Surya Bhanu Partap (Asian Games medalist), Mohd Kamraan (National Gold medallist), and Ayeera Chisti (Junior Bronze medallist in the World Championship) cruised into finals in the 38th National Games at Uttrakhand. However, Rohan, Saleem Kumar, Arjun, and Ishant lost their semi-final bouts in nail-biting fights.

As per the release, Surya Bhanu Partap Singh will play against Manipur, Mohd Kamraan against SSCB, and Ayeera Chisti will play the final against MP tomorrow.

Secretary J&K Sports Council, MS Nuzhat Gul, has congratulated the trio finalists and the other medallists as well and wished them for the gold medal. She also congratulated the Wushu Association of J&K for outstanding, consistent performance in the games from the last 4 editions, assuring full support for the Wushu Sports in the region.

On the occasion, Mr Vijay Saraf, President, and Mr Ranjeet Kalra, Ms Bhavneet, and other office bearers congratulated the medallists for making the whole J&K UT proud and wished the best of luck to the finalists for the gold medals.

Kiran Wattal CDM Games from UT J&K also congratulated the Wushu medallists’.

Dronacharya awardee, Kuldeep Handoo, too congratulated the finalists, assuring 3 gold medals for the UT J&K in the Games.

Handoo also thanked the J&K Sports Council, headed by Lieutenant Governor J&K Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister J&K Omar Abdullah, sports minister Satish Sharma, Secretary YSS Sarmad Hafeez, and Secretary Sports Council Ms. Nuzhat Gul, for supporting and providing all support to the Wushu sports in the UT J&K.
