Jammu, Apr 16: In a bold stride toward a greener tomorrow, Jammu and Kashmir unveiled a Rs 193.72 crore ecological blueprint under CAMPA, aiming to turn 14,680 hectares lush and plant a staggering 1.82 crore saplings in the coming fiscal.
With tech tools like mobile apps, geotagging, and drones now in play, J&K is mapping its way to climate resilience and biodiversity revival.
On a winged note, the Annual Waterbird Census brought good news from the skies with 13.44 lakh birds flocking to 26 Kashmir wetlands, with Hokersar emerging as the feathered favourite.
Addressing the 25th Steering Committee Meeting of Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) on Wednesday, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo emphasised the department to work dedicatedly towards achieving the set targets in a given timeframe.
The meeting besides the Commissioner Secretary, Forests, Ecology and Environment was attended by the Principal Secretary, Finance; PCCF; Chief Wildlife Warden; Secretary, Planning; Director, Remote Sensing; CEO, CAMPA and other concerned HoDs of the department.
