Srinagar, Nov 27: After a confident opening win against Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir will look to build momentum when they take on the Uttar Pradesh side in their next Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy fixture today. With both teams carrying contrasting strengths, the contest promises high-intensity cricket and crucial individual match-ups.

For J&K, the batting narrative once again turns toward the top order. As per the sources, Yawer Hassan is expected to be included in playing X1 with the hope that his inclusion will provide the kind of solid, risk-free base.

According to cricket observers, Yawar’s ability to rotate, strike, and accelerate at will becomes far more effective when the platform is steady.

Shabir Ahmad, a cricket enthusiast, said that the biggest strength for J&K going into this match remains their pace attack. “Auqib Nabi, who set the tone brilliantly in the opener, will once again lead the charge with the new ball. His discipline and ability to hit hard lengths early will be vital against UP’s top order,” Shabir said.

Alongside him, Umran Malik’ speed offers J&K a genuine wicket-taking option in the middle phases, while Yudhvir Singh’s accuracy and variations give the attack balance in both powerplay and death overs. The trio together form one of the most exciting pace units in the tournament, and their impact could define the match.

Notably, adding further value is in the form of Abid Mushtaq, the hero of the last match. His left-arm spin brought crucial breakthroughs against Maharashtra, and his fearless power-hitting at the end showcased the all-round depth J&K possess. Abid’s dual ability to control the ball and clarity in the chase gives J&K a decisive edge in tight situations.

Several former JKCA cricketers believe that a win here would not only strengthen J&K’s position in the group but also send a clear message that they are shaping into a disciplined, competitive T20 unit capable of challenging traditional heavyweights.
