Srinagar, July 18: Commissioner of State Taxes Department (STD), P.K Bhat, and Special Secretary of Finance, K.K Sidha, jointly chaired a meeting at the Excise and Taxation Complex to review the financial position for the first quarter of fiscal year 2024-25. The meeting was attended by key officials including Additional Commissioner Administration & Enforcement, Jammu, Namrita Dogra, along with Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, and State Tax Officers of Jammu division.

Addressing concerns over a dip in revenue collection, Commissioner Bhat directed tax officers to aim for a 20% hike in each circle for the remaining quarters to meet FY 2024-25 targets. He emphasized the use of analytical tools to detect tax evasion and stressed enhanced utilization of the GST portal.

Special Secretary Sidha advised officers to familiarize themselves with dealer types in their circles and increase field activity. He highlighted the need for proactive information sharing among department wings and ensuring compliance in cash-heavy sectors like banquet halls, catering, tuition centers, and car accessory shops.

The meeting focused on revenue augmentation strategies, including proper scrutiny of E-way bills, optimal use of technology for red flag assessment, and aggressive follow-ups on tax evasion and Input Tax Credit mismatch cases. Enforcement wings were directed to intensify field actions, particularly in outer and remote areas.

Additional Commissioner Namrita Dogra presented a circle-wise performance analysis, while the performance of Deputy Commissioners of Enforcement Wings and Stamps was also discussed in detail.
