J&K steps up awareness drive for Labour Codes implementation
Jammu, Jan 6: Labour Commissioner J&K, Charandeep Singh, on Tuesday, chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of implementation of the Labour Codes in the Union Territory.
During the meeting, the Labour Commissioner reviewed the ongoing Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign and stressed the need for inclusive sensitisation of all stakeholders to ensure effective implementation on the ground.
He said informed and active participation of employers, human resource managers, workers and those in the unorganised sector is essential for the successful rollout of the Labour Codes.
Earlier, Assistant Labour Commissioners briefed the meeting on district-level initiatives undertaken to disseminate information about the Labour Codes. They said a series of awareness workshops, interactive sessions and meetings have been held with employers, industrial units, trade unions, HR professionals and workers to familiarise them with key provisions. Special emphasis has been laid on compliance requirements, workers’ welfare measures and grievance redressal mechanisms.
The officers further informed that targeted sensitisation drives for unorganised workers were conducted through field visits, community-level interactions and coordination with local stakeholders.
