J&K Sports Council hosts Elite Rhythmic Gymnastics Advanced Training Programme
Srinagar, Aug 25: The J&K Sports Council has launched India's first advanced training programme for elite rhythmic gymnasts at SKISC, Srinagar. This three-week programme, organised in collaboration with the Gymnastics Federation of India (GFI) and the Gymnastics Association of J&K, marks a significant milestone in the region's sporting landscape.
The programme commenced with a ceremonial opening, including the National Anthem and welcoming of distinguished guests. It highlights the progressive initiatives undertaken by the sports department under the leadership of Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary to the Government, Youth Services & Sports, and Nuzhat Gull, Secretary, J&K Sports Council.
Dilbar, a renowned expert from the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, is leading the training sessions. She is joined by Krupali Singh, the Chief Gymnastics Coach of the J&K Sports Council, and other experienced coaches from across India.
The programme aims to elevate the skill levels of participating gymnasts, providing them with international-standard training to compete on a global stage.
Sarmad Hafeez emphasized the significance of hosting this first-of-its-kind camp in Srinagar, stating, "This training program not only showcases our commitment to advancing sports in the region but also opens new avenues for our young athletes to shine at the national and international levels."
He also announced that sports demonstrations under SVEEP (Systematic Voter's Education and Electoral Participation) awareness campaigns will be held across J&K to encourage maximum voter participation in upcoming Assembly elections.
Nuzhat Gull appreciated the efforts of the GFI and GAJK in organizing the high-level camp, noting its positive impact on the region's sports development. She added that more such camps in other sports will be held in the near future.
The opening ceremony concluded with a vibrant demonstration by the selected gymnasts, earning applause from the guests and dignitaries.
