J&K Sports Council congratulates outstanding sportspersons on Republic Day awards

Srinagar, Jan 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council has extended warm congratulations to the sportspersons from J&K who have been selected for the J&K Government’s Republic Day Awards 2026 under the category of Outstanding Sports Persons.

In a congratulatory message, the Sports Council lauded the athletes for their exceptional achievements, dedication and consistent contribution to sports, stating that their performances have brought pride to Jammu and Kashmir and inspired young talent across the region.

Notably, the Jammu and Kashmir Government named Republic Day Awards 2026 for nine outstanding sportspersons in recognition of their exceptional achievements and contribution to sports.

As per government order, the awards have been sanctioned under the category Award for Outstanding Sports Persons. Each award carries a cash prize of Rs 51,000 and a citation.

The awardees include Aquib Nabi Dar and Brijesh Sharma (Cricket), Rakesh Singh (Deaf Judo), Vishal Khajuria (Judo), Saleem Kumar (Wushu), Ravees Ahmad (Pencak Silat), Sudipti Khanna (Gymnastics), Mohammad Iqbal (Athletics/Coaching), and Aiyza Naz Chib (Skating).
