Srinagar, May 24: Pajakta L Verma (IAS), Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, visited the Animal Fibre Quality Assurance Laboratory at the Division of LPT, F.V.Sc & AH, SKUAST-K.

During her interaction with the scientists, she gained a comprehensive understanding of the physical and molecular laboratory testing protocols used to detect adulteration of Pashmina with other types of fibers. She stressed the critical importance of having such a testing laboratory in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, given its status as a hub for large-scale manufacturing and export of Pashmina and Pashmina-based products at both national and global levels. The credibility of Pashmina verified by this laboratory would significantly enhance its reputation in domestic and international markets. The visiting dignitary was accompanied by G.S. Bhatti, Executive Director of CWDB, S.P. Verma, Secretary of the Textile Committee, Prof. Haroon R. Naik, Director of P&PMO, Prof. M.T. Banday, Dean of FVSc & AH at SKUAST-K Shuhama, and Heads of Departments.
