J&K religious leaders be given chance to share their opinion : Altaf Bukhari
Srinagar, Nov 28: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Thursday said that religious leaders from Jammu and Kashmir must be given an opportunity to share their opinions and concerns regarding the proposed Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which is currently under review by the parliamentary committee.
He emphasised that, since this bill could significantly impact religious and community affairs, it is imperative that all stakeholders are properly heard.
The Apni Party leader wrote on his X handle, “The parliamentary committee reviewing the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, should allow Ulema from J&K to share their views on the proposed changes. The Mutahida Majlis-E-Ulema (MMU), a prominent group of religious organizations in J&K led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Sahib, has sought a meeting with committee head Jagdambika Pal.”
He added, “Given the bill's potential impact on religious and community affairs, it is essential for the committee to engage with all stakeholders. Listening to diverse voices ensures an inclusive and democratic decision-making process. The Ulema of J&K also must be given the chance to express their opinions and concerns.”
