Srinagar, Nov 15: Various political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have expressed grief over the loss of lives in the blast that went off at the Nowgam Police station on Friday night.

In a statement, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah has expressed deep anguish over the tragic explosion at the Nowgam Police Station. He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and expressed profound sorrow over the loss of precious lives. He also prayed for the swift and complete recovery of all those injured in the incident.

As per a press release, on the directions of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Ministers Sakina Itoo, Javed Dar visited the injured at the hospital to assess their condition. Javed Dar was accompanied by Mushtaq Guroo, MLA, Chanapora. Dr Farooq urged the administration to extend every possible assistance to the affected families and ensure that comprehensive support reaches them without delay. He expressed hope that the injured recover soon and that the families of the deceased find strength in this moment of immense grief. Among others, Party’s General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, party Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Advisor to CM Nasir Aslam Wani and Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq have also expressed deep anguish over the unfortunate incident.Minister Javed Ahmed Rana has also expressed profound grief over the tragic incident.

BJP National General Secretary & J&K BJP Prabhari, Tarun Chugh has said that the entire nation stands united in paying tribute to the J&K policemen and others who lost their lives in the unfortunate explosion at the Nowgam police station, as per a press release. Chugh said the J&K Police have been performing exemplary duty in combating militants and maintaining law and order in the region. As per a press release, he said the PM Modi-led government has zero tolerance for terrorism, and its commitment to the growth and development of J&K. Describing the Nowgam Police Station blast as an unfortunate incident, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in J&K Legislative Assembly Sunil Kumar Sharma batted for “intensive investigation of all those involved in white-collar terror module and the persons related to them.”

Sunil Sharma described it as an unfortunate incident.

BJP State General Secretary (Organisation) Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Ashok Koul said he was deeply pained by the incident and the loss of innocent lives. He prayed for the quick recovery of all those injured and extended his sympathies to the families who lost their loved ones in the explosion.

Congress

Former Union Minister and Congress leader Prof Saifuddin Soz expressed deep grief over the tragic loss of lives and injuries to dozens in the blast at the Nowgam Police Station. In a statement, Soz termed the incident “horrific and deeply tragic”, and extended deepest condolences to the bereaved families. Prof Soz also urged the administration to provide immediate compensation to the victims’ families and ensure the best possible medical care and assistance for those injured in the blast.

JKPCC

J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President, Tariq Hameed Karra expressed grief over the tragic explosion. Karra termed the loss of previous lives of police personnel, Revenue and FSL official and a tailor in this incident unfortunate. He shared the grief with bereaved families and expressed heartfelt condolences. He also prayed for eternal peace to the slain persons.

Apni Party

Apni Party while expressing grief said: “The party termed the incident horrific and deeply tragic and extended deepest condolences to the bereaved families,” the statement said. The party has urged the administration to provide immediate compensation to the victims’ families and ensure the best possible medical care and assistance for those injured in the blast.

JKPDF

President of the J&K Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has also expressed sorrow over the tragic explosion and extended heartfelt solidarity to all families affected by the incident. Calling the loss of lives “a painful moment for the entire Kashmir region,” he appreciated the swift response of rescue teams and medical staff who acted promptly to save lives and provide immediate care to the injured.

Other leaders, Civil Society

Meanwhile, several other leaders and civil society members have also expressed grief over the tragedy. Former minister and ex-MLA Bandipora, Usman Majid expressed grief over loss of lives and extended solidarity with the bereaved families. “Their loss is our collective grief. Their sacrifice our eternal pride. My humble and heartfelt tribute to the brave martyrs of Nowgam,” Usman Majid posted on X, while commenting on a video of the wreath laying ceremony of the slain policemen killed in the Nowgam blast.

In a press release, Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum and President Pensioners United Front, Abdul Qayoom Wani expressed grief over the tragic blast. Wani said he along with entire leadership of JKCSF and JKPUF extend their condolences to all bereaved families. The Employees Joint Action Committee Jammu & Kashmir (EJAC) has also expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic incident. Senior trade union leader and President EJAC, Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam conveyed deep anguish and heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. He also prayed for the swift and complete recovery of all those injured in the incident.
