Srinagar, Mar 3: Stating that the Police is acting as a catalyst in connecting youth with sports activities, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Director General of Police Rashmi Ranjan Swain on Sunday said that the force has demonstrated exceptional commitment to sports and civic engagement despite the challenging circumstances of the past three decades

He said that the Police force's unwavering dedication to maintaining high sporting standards was a feat recognised by all forces across the country.

Speaking at the inauguration of a championship event here at SKICC, RR Swain said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police has overcome unique challenges, setting a benchmark in sports despite the adversities faced in Union Territory.

His reference was obviously towards the terrorism that was being fought by J&K Police while remaining on the forefront.  He expressed confidence that the championship would contribute significantly to national integration, providing the people of Kashmir with an opportunity to witness the outstanding performances of athletes over the next few days.

Later talking to reporters DGP said that the Police is acting as a catalyst in connecting youth with sports activities.

Earlier, Additional Director General of Police, Armed, Law and Order Vijay Kumar welcomed 30 teams from various police and paramilitary forces across the country to the championship.

He noted that over 500 athletes and officials are participating in the event, which is being hosted by Jammu and Kashmir for the fourth time. Vijay Kumar underscored the importance of such sporting events, not only in promoting unity but also in steering the youth away from drug abuse and terrorism.
